I’m Cody Smith, the founder and creative brain behind Under the Sun Studios. Based in Los Angeles, California, I’ve built UTS around cinematic production, brand storytelling, and the belief that great content should do more than look good, it should create momentum.
Before Under the Sun became a studio, it started with a camera, skateboarding, and an obsession with capturing energy in real time. My background in action sports shaped the way I see movement, timing, and emotion - not just as visuals, but as tools for building identity. Over time, that instinct grew into a full-service creative business working across real estate, fitness, lifestyle, events, personal brands, product campaigns, and community-driven projects throughout Southern California and beyond.
Today, I lead Under the Sun Studios with the same hands-on intensity that built it from the ground up. I’m involved in the strategy, directing, shooting, editing, and systems behind every project, making sure each client gets content that feels polished, intentional, and built to last.
Whether we’re creating a brand film, launching a personal brand, capturing an event, or developing monthly social content, the goal stays the same: make people care, make the brand feel alive, and create work that keeps moving long after it’s posted.
